About the Fellowship

The Fellowship is a 12-week program designed to bring your skills and military experience to the civilian sector. This program takes place during your last 120 days of service, allowing you to explore a new career path while earning your current pay and maintaining your benefits.

SkillBridge FAQ

1. Let's Chat
Our Military Recruiting team connects with you to complete intake information and schedule an introductory phone screen.

2. Finding the Fit
Our HR Business Partner team identifies open roles based on your background, desired location, and available capacity.

3. Meet the Team
You’ll interview with the designated facility or leadership team to ensure alignment and interest from both sides.

4. Offer & Approval
Once matched, you’ll receive an official SkillBridge offer letter to submit for command approval.

5. Onboarding Prep
Prior to your start date, you’ll join an onboarding session with Lowe’s leadership and the Military Recruiting team.

6. Start Your Fellowship
Start your SkillBridge Fellowship at your assigned store, corporate office, or Distribution Center location.

7. Check-Ins 
You’ll complete structured evaluations at the 6-week and 12-week marks to track progress and engagement.

8. Next Steps
Post-Fellowship, our Leadership and HRBP teams will provide tailored career advice and explore opportunities for full-time roles with Lowe’s.

No retail experience is required. We’re looking for capable people with leadership skills who can thrive in a team environment.

The Lowe’s SkillBridge Fellowship is only open to current active-duty military members. However, we employ over 26,000 veterans and military spouses nationwide. We encourage you to apply to any position that matches your skills and career goals.

Yes! As a Fellow, you will be scheduled to work 40-hours per week.

Our goal is to provide you with a valuable experience that will lead to full-time employment with Lowe’s. However, you must exhibit a certain level of performance and there must be a position available to transition to a full-time permanent position.

If you decide this is not the right fit for you, we will help guide you toward other areas of interest within Lowe's.

  1. A military recruiter will contact you to schedule a conversation and complete a quick form.
  2. If you are selected, a recruiter will reach out to schedule an interview.
  3. If you are selected, we will extend an offer to join the Lowe’s SkillBridge Fellowship.
  4. Once you have accepted the offer and gained command approval, your Fellowship can begin!
