For over 100 years, making a difference in the places where we live and work has been at the core of who we are as Lowe's associates. Our community impact focus areas include improving community spaces, critical home repairs, disaster relief and skilled trades education. Whether it's through our associate volunteer programs or the way we step up to help neighbors in the aftermath of disaster, we are there to support and improve our communities.

Skilled Trades Education
Studies show that 85% of contractors report trouble finding skilled workers, and an estimated 600,000 new skilled tradespeople will be needed to meet demand in 2023 alone.
This is why the Lowe's Foundation is developing a community of skilled tradespeople to build and revitalize our homes, neighborhoods and infrastructure for the future. This comes to life through the Foundation's Gable Grants program, a five-year, $50 million commitment to community and technical colleges and community based non profits.
We are also proud to offer our Track to the Trades program, a workforce development initiative that offers all associates access to tuition-free skilled trades certifications to jumpstart a rewarding career in the trades.

Environmental sustainability
From the products on our shelves to our daily business practices, we're committed to developing a more sustainable future. Since 2016, we have reduced absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 49%.
In December 2022, we announced our goal to reach net-zero emissions across our full value chain, including scopes 1, 2 and 3 by 2050, in accordance with guidelines from the Science Based Targets initiative. Since 2020, we have reduced our total energy consumption by 3% and total electricity use by 17%.
