You can make a difference
For over 100 years, making a difference in the places where we live and work has been at the core of who we are as Lowe's associates. Our community impact focus areas include improving community spaces, critical home repairs, disaster relief and skilled trades education. Whether it's through our associate volunteer programs or the way we step up to help neighbors in the aftermath of disaster, we are there to support and improve our communities.
Making homes and hometowns better
As a home improvement retailer, we put our passion, products and DIY know-how to work to improve the communities in which we live and work. We partner with nonprofit organizations like Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding Together to support safe and affordable housing initiatives and address critical home repairs.
Through Lowe's Hometowns, our largest-ever community impact initiative, we've committed $100 million through 2026 to renovate and repair community spaces nationwide.
Each fall, through Lowe's Hometowns, we complete 100 projects chosen from consumer nominations, plus nearly 1,700 projects selected by Lowe’s associates nationwide.
"Giving back and helping in the community does hold a special place in my heart. I'm an advocate of, if you give back to others it will be given back to you. This is the reason I feel our company, my district and my team are so successful because we all give back."
Rico A., Assistant Planning Manager
Ready when you need us
When a disaster strikes, we're with our community. Our best-in-class Command Center mobilizes aid quickly to help families, business and communities get back up and running.
Following disaster, our recovery efforts work to meet a variety of community needs, including distributing critical supplies, partnering with nonprofit organizations to support response and cleanup efforts and deploying our mobile Tool Rental Disaster Response Trailer.
Our Emergency Response Team, store associates who volunteer to travel to impacted areas, give local associates time to focus on their families. In addition, mobile shower and laundry facilities help associates when utilities are out of service.

"Hurricanes Helene and Milton highlighted Lowe’s spirit, with the Command Center and enterprise teams prioritizing associate safety, customer needs, and community aid through a $12 million donation. Over 17,000 truckloads of supplies were sent to Southeast stores, reinforcing Lowe’s commitment to showing up when communities need us most."
Lindsay R., Command Center Consultant
Military support
Supporting our military community has been an important part of our culture since our founding. As a part of our commitment to service members, veterans and their families, we partner with organizations like USO and Building Homes for Heroes to support workforce training, affordable housing initiatives and other community-based resources.
"Lowe’s made it super easy to transition. The leadership team I work with is very supportive. I could not ask for a better place to work or for a better company than Lowe’s."
Miles H., Training Supervisor, U.S. Army Veteran
Skilled Trades Education
Studies show that 88% of contractors report trouble finding skilled workers, and an estimated 501,000 new skilled tradespeople will be needed to meet demand in 2024 alone.
This is why the Lowe's Foundation is developing a community of skilled tradespeople to build and revitalize our homes, neighborhoods and infrastructure for the future. This comes to life through the Foundation's Gable Grants program, a five-year, $50 million commitment to community and technical colleges and community based nonprofits and national nonprofits with a strong local presence.
We are also proud to offer our Track to the Trades program, a workforce development initiative that offers all Lowe's associates access to tuition-free skilled trades certifications to jumpstart a rewarding career in the trades.
