Our Impact

Through charitable contributions, volunteerism, scholarships, and local and national partnerships, Lowe’s has been investing in the communities we serve for nearly a century.
With our unique expertise, access to product and materials, deep community relationships and diverse perspectives, Lowe’s is uniquely equipped to serve and support those in need every day.

Our areas of philanthropy focus on the critical needs of the communities we serve and align to our areas of expertise. In particular, we focus on safe and affordable housing initiatives and skilled trade education programs.

Safe and Affordable Housing

  • One in six families in the U.S. spends more than 50 percent of its income on housing
  • Access to safe and affordable housing creates stability for families and communities, and is a critical component of healthy childhood development

Skilled Trades Education

By 2028, there will be three million unfilled jobs in the skilled trades. We’re on a mission to help people develop trade skills so we can keep pace with the need and shrink the growing deficit between skilled-trades jobs and qualified people to fill those jobs across communities nationwide.

Our programs include the Track to the Trades program, a workforce development initiative that provides ambitious associates with innovative career alternatives and financial support to pursue a skilled trade. We partner with SkillsUSA, the USO, and other non-profit organizations to fill millions of skilled trades jobs with trained experts.

We also launched Generation T, a movement of organizations committed to rebranding and changing public perceptions of the skilled trades in America while connecting people to opportunities in the skilled trades.

Associates Making a Difference

We encourage our associates to give back to the communities they live and work in through volunteering. We have partnerships with community organizations across the United States and Canada and our associates are dedicated to making a difference through these programs.

Our Give Back Time program allows associates to take up to eight hours of paid work time to volunteer for a cause that's meaningful to them. That's nearly two million volunteer hours every year.

Supporting Our Communities in Times of Need

Disaster relief is a team effort. Lowe's partners with the American Red Cross, Reach Out WorldWide, Operation BBQ Relief and others to support communities facing or recovering from disaster. We extend our support through financial commitments, product donations, targeted recovery projects and by providing meals and assistance for other critical needs.

We take pride in our associates' willingness and dedication to support our communities in advance of and immediately following disasters. In 2019, as hurricane season descended, 1,300 volunteers from Lowe's Store Support Center in Mooresville, NC, assembled 20,000 buckets of disaster relief supplies. These supplies were shipped to impacted communities when needed.
